I am also trying to research potential connections with John William Goulding and Mary Ellen Jones. More specifically, I tend to think that there are more siblings than what you have listed in your post, but I'm just not sure. This is a very difficult family to research, and I might believe that the names changed around a bit on US census records- Golden and Goulding.
I am trying to ascertain if John William and Mary Goulding are at least the parents of a Catherine Goulding. My husband's great-great grandmother is Catherine "Kate" Goulding who married Peter Radford (both from England). I am thinking that John William and Mary Goulding are distinct possibilities as parents based on dates and the fact that Catherine and Peter resided most of their lives in Westmoreland County, but just can't be sure. Do you have much information on them? I'll share what I have found below, which is the start of where I'm building potential connections...based on the details, I think John Willam and Mary married in 1868, he immigrated around 1870 or so, and I think Mary came a lot later, around 1880, soon after the birth of a Martha, the fifth living daughter. Thereafter, more kids born in PA.
