Hi Christine, Wish I could tell you I have found connections to NC/SC but I haven't yet. Thomas is the earliest Goulding I can find and through the 1800's & 1900's, the name has been spelled as both Golden & Golding/Goldin on census records. My family has spelled it Goulding since 1880 when John H Goulding left Stewart Co GA and moved to Freestone Co TX. I've had a hard time trying to trace them back more than 1840 when Thomas was listed on the Stewart Co GA Census. Of course, they didn't list family member's names until 1850 but there is a female of the right age who could be Mariah and a child the right age to be Sarah. So I'm "assuming" that's his family enumeration. Mariah is also thought to have been born in England even though all the records say GA. I personally think that one or both of her parents were born in England and she was born in GA after their arrival. So, at this point I'm unable to help you. If I finally do make a connection to NC or SC, I'll post that information. Good luck, Paula Notify Administrator about this message?
