Hi Cheryl,
Sorry it took awhile to get back to you, I've been off-line for awhile.

I went through all my papers and came up with a couple of different George Edwins or Georges but the dates don't look right! Here they are anyway:

George Edwin Goulder b. May 10, 1866 in Birmingham, however, he died in the September quarter of that year. It may be a clue to grandparents, etc. though. His parents were George Goulder, b. abt. 1826 and baptised at St. Peter's, Radford who married Fanny Huthwaite in 1850 at the Basford Register Office.

The brother of George (who married Fanny) was William Goulder, b. abt 1831 in Radford who also had a son named George born in the march 1/4 of 1864 in Staffs. The family moved back to Radford before the December 1/4 of 1865 and that is where George married Sarah Yeomans in 1891.

To make things a bit confusing, the parents of George and William are William Goulder (b. abt. 1799 in Trowell, Notts.) and Sarah Flinders (b. abt. 1799-1800 in Radford). They are both buried at Radford, St. Peters. In this particular family, the name George came into being a popular given name because it was the first name of Sarah's father, George Flinders (as far as I can tell!).

What's interesting is that the first peice of information I found about a George Edwin was for a family in Virginia (USA) recorded by an Arthur Finn Bowen. he states that George Edwin W. Goulder was born in England in 1802 and married Susan Ann Tucker born 1804 in Virginia. Iphigenia Bowen has added that George Edwin was born in Cambridge, England in 1804 and died in 1851.

So, other than this, I have some notes for Georges that I can't really read too well, including a George Edward Goulder born in the 1870s? who married a Jane Matilda having children John Robert and Georgina in the 1890s. I'm not sure where I found this bit of information though. Beside it, I have something about the family owning an ironmonger's shop in Surrey.

Anyhow, I have lots and lots and lots of Goulder information that apparently needs a good sorting through! If you pass along some more information I can see if we match up anywhere, and in the meantime I'll have a better look through my records. It would be very exciting to have a match!

Hope to hear from you soon,
Lisa
