Our Goulds are from various little villages in Somerset, England. Perhaps someone is related to or has information in regard to my branch.
My g-g-grandmother was Mary Ann Gould, she immagrated to Canada in about 1875, she was married in Bristol to Thomas Giddings, they were married right before they immigrated, I was told it was just days.
My 3-great grandparents were Isaac Gould b abt 1827 in Ashwick, Somerset, and Matilda Davis. Isaac's parents were Isaac Gould b abt 1792 and Harriet Sledge (or ledge), this Isaac I believe was the son of George Gould b abt 1762 and Emma Ann unknown, we are searching the possibility that George may have been one of the twins born to Joseph Gould and Betty unknown.
Mary was living in Gurney slade Oakhill, Somerset at the time of her marriage, February 1875 (I have no idea what she was doing in Bristol)
A couple of the villages the Goulds are known to have lived in are Ashwick, Gerney Slege, Binegar Somerset, I know there is at least one more but I can't think of it now. All of the villages are in fairly close proximity.
I have not found any siblings for Mary Ann. According to the 1861 census she was the only child of Isaac's and Matilda's listed along with a son of Matilda's from a previous marriage, also living with them was Emma Gould 83 years old whom we belive to be Isaac's grandmother..
For isaac 50 and Harriet 50, we have the 1841 census which has them living with George Gould 80 years old(coal miner) and children, Mary 25, Ann 20, Charles 15, Isaac 14 , M___ dau 11, and William 9.
