I am tracing a Gottesman line from a region known in English as Galicia. It is called Galizien in German, which was how it was written on Fannie's marriage certificate. Galicia is the name given to the portion of Poland which was occupied by the Austro-Hungarian Empire between 1772-1918. I don't know what city the family came from.
The family consists of 9 children, 8 of whom were female. None of the descendents retain the Gottesman name.
