AMAZIING!!! Thank you for all the information.
I have only just gone back to the Gott family after having a contact about another one of the family!I wondered where Ann Slack fitted in – I’d seen her a few times.
OK so where do I fit in …
William Gott 1770 son of David and Ann Ascham (spelling difference here? But not surprising as they seemed to change regularly but need to check this. Also query on Mary Beadall - I had Ann and possibly as a John's wife!
William Gott married Ann Fowler
William 1799-1857 Mary 1801 Elizabeth 1801 David 1804-1807 Sarah 1807 Ann 1808 Hannah 1811 Jane 1813 Charlotte 1815-1815 and David 1816
Jane had a child William Gott 1851 and I have the line for this – will check with my contact first if its Ok to sdend on.
William Gott married Mary Stead 1803-1858 and had three children~
Mark 1821-1913 John 1823-1909 and Jonah 1831-1912
Mark married Nancy Tate 1817-
John Gott married Hannah Briggs 1821-1893
Jonah married her sister Charlotte 1831- (This seems to have happened a few times in the family!!)
At the moment I only have one child for John and Hannah and that is Herbert 1854-1829
He married Emily Winder 1856-1925 (There’s a whole dynasty here with the family ending up in USA and Canada!!)
Three sons John Gott 1877-1964 (my grandfather) Herbert 1880-1937 (not married and no child as far as I know)and Edric 1885-1965
John and Edric married sisters!
John married Mary Bray 1879-1961 (my Granny and again here I have hundreds of relations) and Edric married Blanch. They emigrated to Canada where their daughter had gone to live. I only made contact with their granddaughter about three years ago – although I’ve now lost touch again!
John and Mary had two children Joan and Roland.
Joan, my mother had four children – I am the eldest. I have two children and the eldest son has just announced that I will be a Granny in July! I too was born in 1951 (It must be something about our age and family history!!)
