Hi! Sorry I've been gone so long. This is my "busy time." We've finished our book, so I hope to catch up on my e-mail -- all the way back from March. Heavens!
Anyhow, "our" (NE Pennsylvania, that is) Godhard (as spelled on his 1797 will)/Gotthardt (spelled on other docs, etc.)/etc. is still a mystery. In between the book research, I've been looking for more info. I have just found a "John GETTERD" (still another variation of the same name) Oath of Allegiance from 25 March 1778 in Northampton County, PA. This is where "Our" John Godhard lived before dying at his graddaughter's home in Northumberland County, PA, according to his 1797 will. No country of origin is listed for this John GETTERD on this list, and I have no way of knowing yet whether this could be the same person.

I finally get back on-line and a rip-roaring thunderstorm just blew up. Will try to get back after the storm with some more info.
