My name is George Turner, the grandson of Catherine Foerster Turner. The story has us related to the Linker family of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Mrs. Linker, my father's aunt was said to have started a women's undergarment company in LaCrosse (I have some pictures of ladies sewing).
My Grandmother's sister "Aunt El" had a son reportedly running the Gossard Company in Cleveland, OH. I have a picture of that factory.Life ended in poverty for them, but perhaps in the 1960's as I can remember "Great Aunt El" walking with difficulty in Belvidere. My Grandfather, Charles Turner, Catherine's husband, managed the Gossard plant in Belvidere, IL, and I have a picture of that factory too.
The Linker connection to Gossard, who was Mrs. Linker and who was Mr. Linker (It is said he liked to sit and smoke cigars in the barber shop in their hotel in LaCrosse.)?
Mrs. Linker is said to have come from the Heileman brewing family, but....? It is truely interesting that there is a Gossard family. I thought it was just a name for a company.
The connection could only be very interesting.
