Look at Gosling entry just above yours. Is it possible that we are looking at the same John Gosling? You say he married Hannah abt 1810. Gitty Gosling was married 1832; these facts are consistent. There is no clear reason her father John would have moved from Duchess Cty NY to Upper Canada. So maybe the NY address was just a way station from Virginia. This is far out, but consider this scenario: John finds he is a Loyalist at heart and decides to join the United Empire Loyalists in Upper Canada. He stops over for a year in Duchess Cty and Gitty for some reason gives this to the minister in U.C. as her address. Yes, unlikely, but maybe this points the way to further research. Do you know much about the Goslings in Virginia?
