and his wife died in 1889. To Andrew G. and Hanna (Anderson) Anderson three sons have been born: Carl O., connected with the Pennsylvania State Highway Department, lives at Ebensburg; William H., an accountant, lives at Ebensburg; and P. Edwin, a salesman, lives at Ebensburg.
In politics Mr. Anderson is identified with the Republican party and he has served as a member of the City Council. He holds membership in the Congregationalist Church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Knights of Khoranan, and Knights of Pythias. Mr. Anderson is an energetic man who takes a commendable interest in the affairs of his community.
Levi Gates Gorsuch, who has been station agent at Patton for the Pennsylvania and New York Central railroads for the past 23 years, is a substantial citizen of Cambria County. He was born on a farm in East Freedom Township, Blair County, Pa., July 26, 1871, and is the son of J. Henderson and Elizabeth (Gates) Gorsuch.
J. Henderson Gorsuch, deceased, was a native of Pennsylvania. He was born at Birmingham, May 20, 1833, and his wife was born at Springfield Furnace, Pa. , Oct. 20, 1840. She was the daughter of Levi Gates, one of the first settlers of Cambria County, who lived near Glasgow. Mr. Gorsuch was a blacksmith by trade and for a number of years lived at McKees Gap, and later at Leamersville, where he conducted a shop. He moved his family to Roaring Springs, Blair County, Pa., in 1890, where he continued in business until the time of his death, Feb. 11, 1896. His wife died April 20, 1906., and they are buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring, Pa. Mr. Gorsuch was a prominent member of the Methodist Church and an ardent worker for prohibition during his life. To Mr. and Mrs. Gorsuch the following children were born: Samuel C., deceased; Sarah, lives near Catfish, Pa.; Amelia, lives at Roaring Spring, Pa.; George W., lives at Bellwood, Pa.; Ida M., lives at Roaring Spring, Pa.; A. Lincoln, lives at Josephine, Pa.; Bertha, lives at Niles, Ohio; J. Edward and Jesse C., live at Roaring Spring, Pa.; John C., lives at Altoona, Pa.; H. Forest, lives at Galion, Ohio; Elizabeth B., lives at Josephine, Pa.; William H., James H., Marion B., Julia, Milton D., and an infant, all deceased; and Levi Gates, the subject of this sketch.
Levi Gates Gorsuch spent the early years of his life on a farm near Leamersville, Pa., and in 1890 removed with his family to Roaring Spring, Pa. He was educated in the district schools and in 1890 learned railroad
