I would like to find out about John Gorrell Newton Twp Cumberland Co PA Here's what I know:
Tax Cumberland. 1779 Newtown Township Freemen John Govrall
Tax Cumberland.1780 Newtown Township Freemen Gorrell, Jno
Tax Cumberland. 1781 Newtown Township Freemen John Gori
Tax Cumberland. 1782 Newtown Twp John Gorrel 5 Acres 3 Horses 1 Cattle 0 Negroes
Tax Cumberland. 1785 Newton Twp John Gorrel 50 Acres 1 Horses 2 Cattle 0 Negroes
What these records indicate is that John Gorrell was a Freeman [usually without property] in the years 1779 – 1781
In the years 1782 he had 5 acres and by 1785 had 50 acres and TAXED AS A MARRIED MAN

He was also in the Cumberland county Militia as follows:
Series 2 Vol XV p 611 In Service July 1778 John Garrel - July 1778 CCM Privates John Garrel

There is a Active Militia Duty Record of John Garrel, Private, 2nd Class, in the Cumberland County 1st Battalion, Second Company, Capt. Saml. Finton.
Time of Service “Order of Council, July 14, 1778”. Under Duty “Served 2nd Tour, 1st & 2nd Classes

300 Men To Ye Standing Stone” From the fine book of Jon Carothers, Cnty. Lt., p. 244.

Where did he come from ?? Where did he go it shows his wife as Isabella is she the former Isabella McEvers ?
