This starts to mesh closer to filling in some GORRELL holes I have.THANK YOU to those who have contributed.
Does anyone have an idea if either James (son of James) or James (son of William) is the James E. Gorrell who was with Bouquet around Pittsburgh during the French and Indian War? His journal was eventually found in papers held by the secretary to the governor of MD of that era, and excerpts have been publishedin both MD and Wisconsin historical works?
Also, is the Robert (son of John) possibly my ancestor Robert Gorrell (born abt 1747) who married a Susannah Smith (her father, Thomas Smith, had a tavern and I believe a ferry on the Susquehannah around the time of the Americsn Revolution)?
Can anyone find a connection to the Gorrell (Sorrell?) who came to Charles City County in VA abt 1632?How about the Ralph Gorrell who came from Ireland to the Greensboro, NC area about 1750?
Finally, can anyone connect some of these people to the ship GORRELL, Henry Ford being the master, whose salvaged gear was sold at auction in Norfolk in June, 1770?
