Irish Folklore has it that Gormley is the Mother of "Brian the Great". It has been documented serveral times also. That being said we are the "First family of Ireland". The family has given birth to many Irish names, O'Brien,Leddy,Haig,(h),Gormley,Gormall(e)y. Orginally from the northren sections much of the family later from 1840's through the turn of the century settled in the west of Ireland in Counties Galway,Roscommon,Mayo and Silgo. Blue eyes,long legs,long arms are family distinctive traits.
