You are absolutely right.Patrick Gorman is a very common name.I'm sure you searched the www.familysearch.org site for Patrick Gorman and saw the many listings. The Patrick Gorman who lived nearby shows up in the 1881 Census Record for Nelson Parish, Northumberland Co., (Div. 1), New Brunswick, Canada. The only information it lists are his age - 26, his nationality - Native, his occupation - Millman, and his religion - Roman Catholic.I am only speculating that he and Eliza produced a child because he is near her age, lived close by, and she supposedly named the child after him.My assumption may not be correct.Another Patrick Gorman shows up a little later, born around 1863 to the parents of Peter and Mary Ann Gorman but I think the ages are wrong for this to be the father of Eliza's child.Wish I had more.
