Philip McLaughlin family, Sioux City, Iowa
I have bee ntracing the family of my great grandmother from Carbondale, Pennsylvania, and recently located the family of her brother Henry Kennedy and his wife, Elizabeth (Eliza) Gorman, in Nebraska. They had three daughters :Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie); and Jennie, both of whom were born in Pennsylvania; and Agnes, who was born in Nebraska about 1882-83.The parents and children were all living together in Norfolk, NE, in the 1900 Census.
The 1917 obituary of Henry Kennedy’s brother Michael identified a number of relatives attending the funeral. Two of the identified relatives were Mrs. Philip McLaughlin and son of Sioux City, Iowa.
I succeeding in locating this McLaughlin family in the 1910 Census, for Iowa, Woodbury County, Sioux City, Ward 6, (Series 624, Roll 430, page 162), where, although the clarity of the online image is not very clear, the following entries are found:
McLaughlin, Philipp S:Head, M, W, 28, M1, 6, IA, IA, (?)
Agnes:Wife, F, W, 27, M1, 6, 1, 1, NE, PA, (?)
Richard:Son, M, W, 2, S, IA, IA, NE?
I believethat Agnes McLaughlin, wife of Philip (note spelling in 1910 Census), is the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Gorman Kennedy. However, I have not succeeded in locating this family in the 1920 Census for Iowa, or any other state, using different combinations of the spelling for both McLaughlin and Philip.
Any assistance in obtaining more information about the family of Philip and Agnes McLaughlin, and their son Richard, would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Robby
