Robert Gorman b.1873 d.1915 Belfast-NJ
Hello. I am searching for a Robert Gorman b.1873 and d.1915. He married Katherine Quinn in 1897. Robert, at age 14, and his widowed mother (name unknown) came from Belfast and supposedly from wealth and position. It's unknown if Robert and his mother travelled with other family or even if Robert had any siblings.I believe they settled in Patterson, NJ.
Robert's mother did marry twice more and was widowed all three times. She lived into her 90's.Interesting Story:She was a dedicated Protestant "Orange Woman".She would wrap her youngest grandchild in an orange shawl and parade up and down on St. Patrick's Day, jeering at the Irish Catholics in their Green attire. In her last years, She converted to Catholicism and spent her remaining years living in a Convent with the little sisters of the poor.
Robert and Katherine had four daughters (Marie, Margaret, Ann, and Alice), plus 2 children who died in infancy. Robert died in 1915 from infuenza, leaving Katherine to raise four daughters, all under the age of 15. I believe Katherine was born in Franklin, NJ and that she was the youngest of a very large family - her oldest sister (name unknown) had a child or two before Katherine was born.
This is all information that I've gotten from my husband's grandmother - Robert and Katherine were her grandparents. Her sister told us that she believes most of Katherine's family lives or did in Paterson, NJ and that one or two of her brothers were policemen.
I would really appreciate any information that you all might have. Thank You.
