Seeking information on Eldred Gore, son of William & Jane Gore, born 22 July 1832 in Virginia.
Married (possibly his second marriage) Elizabeth Hopkins, dau of William H. Hopkins and Phebe Kysar, in Clinton Co., Indiana on 15 Nov 1855. Elizabeth was born 17 Mar 1837 in Indiana. They had four children: James William (b: 13 Oct 1856), Robert Henry (b: 6 Nov 1857), Eldred Melville (b: 3 Sept 1859) and Rosa May (b: Sept 1861).
Either this couple seperated or Eldred Sr. may have died prior to the 1870 census because in that census, his two sons James and Robert are living with their Gore grandparents in Jefferson, Tipton Co., IND.
There is no mention of the third son Eldred Melville Gore so he may not have survived.
The daughter Rosa May is living with her mother Elizabeth in Forest Twp., Richland Co., Wisconsin in 1870. Elizabeth appears to have remarried. The head of household for her 1870 census is Orrin Braman (age 61) and Elizabeth (age 32) is listed as having the Braman surname while Rosa retained her Gore surname.
Can anyone shed more light on this situation?
