I am searching for the parents of JAMES Gore, b. May 27, 1813 in Clark County, Indiana, d. Aug. 15, 1885 in Linn County, Oregon.
He married Henrietta Berthina SETTLE, b. May, 2, 1823 Jefferson County, Ind., in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa on Aug. 12, 1841.
Henrietta and James had 5 children in Burlington-
Rachel Jane, b. October 1842 married George
William, b. August 12, 1844 died unmarried
Josiah, b. Jan. 16, 1847 died unmarried
Elizabeth Ellen, b. Feb. 6, 1849 married William Cummings
John Allen, b. Jan. 10, 1851 married Eliza Baber
They left and emigrated to Oregon in 1852, filing for a Donation Land Claim May 1853 in Linn County, Oregon. They had 7 more children born on the farm-
Amelia, b. May 17, 1853 married James Scrafford
John Milton, b. April 10, 1855 married Adelia Taylor
Melvin Ballard died as a baby
Mary Margaret, b. Jan. 15, 1859 married Frank Morgan
Delizan Smith, b. Sept. 11, 186(?) married Nina Millorne
Nettie Juliette b. July 27, 1862 married Royal Flint Baker
Harriet Temperance, b. Jan. 1, 186(?) married James Riley Bean
The forebears of the Gore family settled in Kentucky and were of Scotch descent.
My ancestor is Nettie Juliette married to Royal Baker.
