My Sister is a Gore. She just had her father do dna testing since they know very little about their Gore line they chose the Y-DNA67+mtDNAPlus.

They joined the Gore DNA Project. As of today there are 4 members. We need more people to do the dna testing in order to trace which Gore families have kinship to which...thus this will help people be able to compare genealogy to see how they are kin to each other.

The Gore DNA Project is open to all who are interested in working together to find their common heritage through sharing of information and dna testing. All variant spellings are welcome. Such as Gore, Goree, Gorley, Gourlay, etc...

A Surname Project traces members of a family that share a common surname. Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, this test is for males taking a Y-DNA test.

Females do not carry their father’s Y-DNA... so the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his direct paternal line (father’s father’s father’s…) with a Y-DNA marker test.

Females who would like to check their direct paternal line must have a male relative with this surname order a Y-DNA test.

Females can also order an mtDNA test for themselves such as the mtDNA or the mtDNAPlus test and participate in an mtDNA project. This will trace a direct line from them to their Mother's mother's mother's... This will not help in surname study but can indicate Native-American Ancestry and which of the 5 major groups that settled in the Americas you are most likely to be descended from. Males can order this test too since they receive mtDNA from their mother, also.

For more information you can go to the FamilyTreeDNA website:

http://www.familytreedna.com/

On the right hand side it will show
search a DNA project

Type in the surname you wish to search for a project.

There are 4 members of the Gore DNA project we need more to be able to trace our Gore lines.

Thanks!
