Dear Joy,
For future reference my email is [email protected]
It would be quicker for us to correspond this way.
I have been making a little bit of progress thanks to a Wexford researcher from Melbourne. On my Richard Gore's immigration to Australia, he had a reference from a Mr.John Shudall of Duncormick, Wexford. I thought that this was interesting as I was sent some information from Ireland on a Gore who married a Shudall, and they lived in the same area. So the cogs in the brain started ticking and i thought there might be a connection to my Richard's family and the Shudall's. So i searched this site and others and found a Shudall researcher. I contacted him and he has been sending me some tibits on the Gore's in Wexford. The Gore that married the Shudall was probably a son/grandson of an Arthur Gore. He was involved in Coal and milling in Duncormick, on behalf of his father. The Shudall leased a mill from the father, and so the families were tied in business, and probably in marriage. Am still working on this.
I looked at Nick Reddan's message, and found it very interesting! BUT i couldn't get the information on Walter's ancestry off that link. Did you manage to get it, as i would desperatly love a copy??!!
I still think that we will find our two ancestors are linked in some way, and would not be suprised to find them connected to the earls of Arran. As far as i know, branches of the family spread from the original home in Donegal, to other parts of Ireland centuries ago. So i am not sure about Nick's info until i sight it.
Have you made any progress?? Have you come across an Arthur Gore, or anything on the name Shudall.
My Richard and his wife seemed to have named their children after their families, and i have always found it interesting that one of the Earls of Arran/ancestors married a woman named Eleanor, spelt the same as my great great grandmother Eleanor Gore. Just a thought!!
Keep it touch, Katharine.
