You are quite welcome, Jim. I know that sometimes a little tip can make a big difference. I also know what you mean about "too many years".

We have no way to join the Gordon group. The last male Gordon in our line was that ggggreat grandfather I spoke of in my first note. He died before 1847 but we're not sure exactly when or where. We only know that 'grandpa' was already dead when his youngest brother died and left his estate to his siblings or their surviving children. The brother named "John C. Gordon, deceased" in the will. Those intervening years and generations make it difficult, like you said. The best information we have found was in Erminie Marshall's book, GORDONS OF THE DEEP SOUTH and she had nothing past John C. Gordon's children. My mother and one of her sisters filled in our direct line, but we have not been able to find anything else about our group.

Good luck in your hunt and if I run across anything else, I'll try to keep you in mind. Sarah
