Additional information found since this forum.See another Forum update on 2/4/02.Robert had a son named James who married a Louisa from Nova Scotia (England originally?)James came over from Scotland with Robert.
The Census with Robert married to a Louisa is likely incorrect.
Louisa born about 1821 and James about 1817-1820.I suspect that James had other siblings we should be able to connect to.In 1860 census, Robert is 66.This puts his birth year at about 1794.Louisa is listed with the children but James is missing. But I now have a death certificate for youngest son Francis (Frank) that names James as his father and Louisa and his mother.Something must have happened to James in Iowa between 1856 and the 1860 census.
I also cannot assume that this family migrated directly from Massachusetts to Iowa but son named George W. was born in Massachusetts and then my Frank was born in Iowa three years later.
