Thomas Goodwyn, Surry Co., VA 1700s
I am seeking information on two Thomas Goodwyns who lived in the early 1700s in Colonial Virginia.
The Thomas Goodwyn of main interest to me was a mariner and landowner in Prince George/Surry counties Virginia who made his will in 1730 which was recorded in Surry County, VA on October 20, 1731.The will of Thomas Goodwyn of Brunswick County, VA was probated in that county court in 1734.Hodges Goodwyn testified that he was the brother of the deceased Thomas Goodwyn, also a mariner, and presented an affadavit from William and Elizabeth Goodwyn of Bristol, England stating that they were the parents of Thomas and Hodges Goodwyn.
Thomas Goodwyn of Surry/Prince George counties was a neighbor of my ancestor, Thomas Taylor.Thomas Taylor's son, also a Thomas Taylor, married Penelope Goodwyn, Thomas Goodwyn's daughter.
Any information on either of these Thomas Goodwyn families will be appreciated.I am particularly interested knowing when and how Thomas Goodwyn came to Virginia initially.I suspect that my Thomas Taylor may have been a passenger on his ship. Will be glad to exchange information via email.
