My Name is Mary Goodwine. I am African-American. I am searching for Goodwine's (Caucasian or African-American), that can help me determine the origin of the Goodwine name and also present me with a lead into who was, perhaps, the slavemaster from whench the African-American slave families of Beaufort (St. Helena Island), South Carolina originated.

So far I have been able to trace my roots back to my forefather John Goodwine (married to Christina) whose birthday was sometimes around 1819-1820.

Do you know of any Goodwine's that settled in the Sea Islands or low country of coastal South Carolina? If so, please e-mail me the information. I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for your help!
