Hi Jenny,
I'm descended from William Akin (b c1780) and Rebecca McClintick. It's looking more and more likely that he was a son of William Eakin and Mary Wallace. However, I just ran into this today and can't explain it:

That would make for a very different story. Do you know anything about it? Could William Akin (Jr?) have first married a daughter of William Goodwin's from an earlier marriage--his step-sister?
