There is a lot of people researching these names, in S. C. and in Georgia. Has anyone compared the ones in Newberry in 1790 and in 1800 and later in Kershaw County? There are 6 sons named and 5 daughters named in the will of John Goodwin who died in 1809 in Kershaw. The children named: eldest son John, Daniel, Joshua, Athadeus(* note he is left off on the WPA record), Henry, youngest son, Samuel and the daughters: Elizabeth Colley, Rebekah Vaughan,Charity Rasberry, Sopia Connel (Conwill), and Ann. On the 1790 Census in Newberry John is living next door to Abraham, a deed for John was witnessed by Abraham. On the census of John there were 5 males under age 16 and 1 male over age 16 and 4 females including head. One son was recently married. In 1800 in Kershaw, they lived just outside Camden near white oak Creek. The census gave 1 male age 10 -under 16; 1 male age 16 - under 26 and 1 male age 45 and over. Females: 1 age 10 - under 16; 1 female age 16 - under 26; 1 female age 45 & over. I believe my g-g-gfather is the Samuel born 1785 S. C. and died 1872 in Marlboro, S. C. The other one at home in 1800 is probably Joshua or Thaddeus. There is a census in 1810 Kershaw for Josh Goodwin he would be there in the 1 male age 26 -45 with a son 1 age 10 - under 16 and a female ages 16 - under 26. There is no Joshua or Thaddeus there in 1820 but in 1830 Kershaw there is Joshua Goodwin with 1 male under age 5; 1 male ages 10 -under 15; 1 ages 15 - under 20; 1 age 50 - under 60. 1 female ages 10 - under 15; 1 female age 15 - under 20; 1 female age 40 - under 50.These are the only times the census for Newberry or Kershaw that I have found these names other than in Pendleton, Anderson and Georgia later. There were in the deed index for Joshua (none for Thaddeus or Athadeus) where he had a release of property in 1812, 1816, 1819 for Samuel in 1808; for Daniel in 1814 (2) and in 1818. Daniel went to Pickens County, Alabama. I would like to hear from anyone who would like to compare these families. Thanks Gladys Goodwin Parker
