Goodson English connections.

I am currently, with the help of some cousins in UK & USA, researching our family history in the UK. I am wondering if any of you many Goodsons in the States can trace your ancestors back to either Oxford in England or Leicestershire in the 15th century, before and/or beyond!

I am trying to verify that we are directly decended from Richard Goodson born 1655 and died 1718. He was professor of Music at Oxford University. His father was called Richard and Grandfather was John. He had a son called Richard 1688-1741, who was also professor of music! His other son was William.

My gggggt Grandfather (verified) and mother were John and Elizabeth from Harby in Leicestershire. John (1750-1832) Elizabeth (1754-1823) John's father was, I think called William married to Sarah (not verified yet).

I would be very glad if anyone can help.

Alfred Goodson
