I'm sorry Dale, but I can't make sense of the sentences quoted below. They seem to imply that the woman (?Elizabeth), who married William Goodliff in 1811 died in 1786.
"My last records of the Goodliff line are William Goodliff born about 1780 married Elizabeth Christopher in Dec 1811 in Kingscliffe, Northampton, England. (she was the d/o William and Hannah Wade). She died in 1786 after giving William 3 children, Mary Anne, George and Thomas."
I haven't tried to follow the Goodliff(e)s of Great Staughton back. I start with Thomas Goodliff, born c.1772, who may be the Thomas to whom you refer, tho I can't determine from your statement who the parents were.
I'm trying to track the descendants of Charles Goodliffe, born Gt Staughton 1819, fifth of nine children of Thomas Goodliff and his wife Mary Hardinge, married Gt Staughton 4 Aug 1807.
On 24 March 1843 Charles married Mary Barker, my ancestor John Barker's older sister. He had 2 children by her, William Edmund b.autumn 1844, and Charles, b.spring 1846. Charles Goodliffe Sr. died and was buried Gt Staughton 26 June, 1846. His widow Mary remarried 20 October 1853 to Charles Fisher, about 16 years her junior. She apparently had a stroke about 1863, and died 19 January, 1866, in Islip, Northants, near Kettering. Her boys were living with them in Thrapston, Northants in the 1861 census.
Son William Edmund Goodliffe apparently emigrated to South Australia, where his uncle William Barker had moved in 1850, followed by William's father John Barker (my ggggrandfather) and sister Anne in 1853.
On 28 Dec 1869, William Edmund Goodliffe married Mary Jane Tonkin in Mount Barker SA. They had at least 2 children, who I am attempting to follow.
Mary and Charles' son Charles (b.1846) can be traced in the English census to London in 1871 and 1881, where he is in Wandsworth as a leatherworker. I have a Charles Goodliffe marrying in Wandsworth in 1899, but no details yet, and I can't find him in 1891 census, or after 1889, assuming that it is he who is marrying then.
I hope this tells you where I am with this family, which I am most interested in tracing in Australia.
