George Jervis Goodhue - b. 8/1/1799

At the request of Malcolm Wilson, I am posting the following message. Please respond to him at his e-mail address at "".

Thank you,

Chuck Hunnewell

His message follows:

"I am the great-great grandson of George Jervis Goodhue (Aug 1, 1799
(Putney, Vt)-Jan. 11, 1870) son of Josiah and Rachel (n. Burr). George
Jervis lived in London, Canada (my hometown), and is written up in the
Dictionary of Canadian Biography. My family never paid much attention to
this "foreigner", but since my immigration to the US, I have become more
interested in his American background. His is an interesting story of
fortunes made, wills written and broken, fortunes squandered, bankrupcy,
fraud and foreign exile, which I would be delighted to share with you and
the group. I wanted first, before I waste anyone's time, to know whether
and how GJH is related to William and Margery. I know that you have a copy
of J.E. Goodhue's book, and I wonder whether I might impose on you to fill
me in on the genealogy, i.e., how to get from William and Margery to George
Jervis. The dictionary cites pp. 40-41, 71-73, 144-45 of "History and
Genealogy..." for information on GJH. Many thanks in advance.

Malcolm Wilson"
