I’m working with the Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance on cemeteries in Chilton County Alabama.
Recently my husband and I went to survey and photograph with Williams Goodgame Cemetery in the area of Chilton County known as Jumbo. Sadly, we discovered that of the 14 original headstones and markers only two remain intact.
I’m currently trying to do some advance work on the cemetery, gathering a list of known descendants and getting the cemetery registered as a historic cemetery with the Alabama Historical Commission. The end goal is clean up, restore, and replace the headstones that have been shattered.
These are the graves of John Crockett Goodgame and his wife Sarah “Sallie” Rasberry Goodgame.

John, the son of John Chapman Goodgame and Sarah Crockett, was born in Georgia on 27 June 1801 and died in Jumbo Chilton Co., AL on 22 May 1889. Sarah, the daughter of Thomas Rasberry, was born in Georgia on 14 June 1802/04 and died 17 Sept, 1889 in Chilton Co., AL.
I am not trying to solicit donations for a cemetery fund at this moment, but, rather trying to gather up names and emails of people who are descended from this couple or who are interested in donating funds when we are ready to proceed to that step.
