According to information I have, James Goodgame (junior), husband of Hannah (nee Lovell) died of TB soon after arriving in NZ (Taradale) on the Countess of Kintore in 1875. Hannah was apparently pregnant with a son, James Charles, who was born after his father had died. Hannah remarried Joseph Hughes and the boy, James Charles (Goodgame,) was known as Charlie Hughes. He was a butcher in Wellington, never married, and died on the 17th July 1939 aged 65 years.
My family always said that Lucy, who was 5 years old when she arrived in 1875, was the daughter of James and Hannah Goodgame but I think it more likely that she was the youngest daughter of James Goodgame (senior)whose wife, Frances, died in December 1874 in England.
I have a death notice for Lucy Fearn (nee Goodgame) who died in Wellington on the 20th June 1959. "beloved wife of the late George Ernest Fearn: loved mother of Harry and Lil (Mrs L Weavers), and the late Alice, Charles and William: in her 91st year".
