Hi Steve

have a substantial umber of Gooder/Goodaire/Goodyear/Goodere/ Goodare families in the Raistrick area of Yorkshire England, back to about 1720. Marriages usually at Elland, baptisms at Raistrick, apart from a period when they were required to go to Elland. The 19C family then became Non-conformist and many of the children are bapt at the Independant chapel at Brighouse.

What fascinates me is that many of these families disappear between 1820/30 when they were baptising children and the 1841 census. This was a period of extreme poverty in he UK (16 percent of the population in one local city were on the poor law and to qualify you had to give up all your possessions).

Do you have any families of these names who emigrated from this area to the US around this time?

Roni Senior
