Looking for info on Lt. Robert Frank Goode

Hello,
My great grandfather was an interesting man. He fought in the Civil War, but his brother was a Confederate Senator from Virginia. I'm looking for any of John Goode's descendants willing to talk to a black sheep brother's descendant. I have his 52nd Inf. ring, and wondered which one he fought with - I'm thinking it was Union.
