Belvia, I have a copy of Va Cousins. The will is from it, and as far as I know considered gospel. There are other will in Va Cousins, and I think they are OK also. ALL the rest is hearsay and bits and pieces. I have never seen your marriage record, but if it is real, it certainly is interesting. It puts Samuel marrying around age 50. Most men at that time married by thirty and most women by 20. Marriages of Virginia Residences 1607-1800 Samuel Goode b. Barbados d. 1735 in Virginia son of John of Whitby and Frances (Mackarness), m. Martha Jones daughter of Samuel from Henrico Coun ty about 1716. Has anyone actually seen this record? If Samuel1 married in 1716, by his will in 1734, his oldest boy would only be 18 and his children would have been wards. All my birthdata, from Va Cousins and other comments on web site, indicates a much earlier marriage. And, I have seen those dates fro the births, some of them are on my database, but no good records support them. In fact, all your children would have been born prior to the marriage, and in Va at that time, when Father John was publicly chastised for not attending services, I don't think it would have been tolerated.
