Goodall of Thorpe Salvin/Worksop/Ashover, 1800s
I have recently started researching the GOODALL family tree and thought that this discussion board may be able to assist. My grandfather Alexander GOODALL (b 1912 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire) was married to Edna ILSLEY (b 1914 in Anston) in South Anston, South Yorkshire in 1941. He had a brother Don and two sisters, Dorothy and Winifred.
His father was John Thomas GOODALL (b 1883 in Thorpe Salvin) married to a Rhona BARRETT (details unknown).John had 12/13 brothers and sisters. His parents were William GOODALL (b 1831 in Thorpe Salvin, Yorkshire) and Mary (seems to be some confusion about William's wife as it appears he could have been married twice, both times to someone called Mary - the first marriage to Mary b 1837 from Worksop had two daughters, Annie b 1865 and Agnes Ann b 1867), the second to Mary (b 1855 from Sheffield)had Florence 1873, Charles Albert 1873, Sarah E 1875, William H 1877, Clara M 1879, Arthur 1880, Joseph L 1881, Ethel 1888, Mabel 1893 and Lilian 1896).William was a farmer in Thorpe Salvin but had moved to Worksop by the 1901 Census.
William's father, I believe, was Thomas GOODALL (b 1799 in Ashover, Derbyshire) who was married to Mary (possibly OUTRAM, b 1810 in Alfreton, Derbyshire) and was a farmer in Thorpe Salvin.William had two brothers (Thomas 1841, John 1845, Elizabeth 1848 and Matilda 1852).
I have only recently started researching this and therefore some of the details above may not be correct, although having been in the 1901, 1881 and 1861 it appears to be.
If anyone else has research that may link in to this tree, please get in touch.
Kind regards
Glenn
