Richard Goodall, mid-late 1600s, England
I've compiled the following notes on a Richard GOODALL/Goodale of
mid-to-late 1600s, England and Barbados, and thought I would share
it with the Goodalls in hope that others could apply more information.
Enjoy, and hope it proves of value.

15 March 1656 BARBADOS - William Wright the younger of London, merchant, deposes that an award made in the dispute between Miles Mayhew and Jonathan Andrewes and John Mumford of London, merchants, appointed Parent Delabarre and Thomas Delavall of London, merchants, to
recover the value of goods in Barbados. William Batt, RICHARD GOODALL and Edward Youle of Barbados and Thomas Pennell of London appointed attornies.(FROM THE COMPLETE BOOK OF EMIGRANTS 1607-1660, G973.0042)
LAG COMMENT: "Parent" is a peculiar given name. It could possibly be Vincent, as Vincent Delabarre and Thomas Delavall were involved together in other cases in England.

On 11th June 1685 three ships arrived at the busy port of Lyme in Dorset. The people of the town were taken by surprise when later that day a young nobleman and eighty-two armed followers landed on the beach. The Mayor of Lyme, Gregory Alford galloped away to send a
warning to King James II in London - The Duke of Monmouth (Monmouth Rebellion) had arrived and was in rebellion.
The First Days
The Protestant dissenters of the cloth towns of the South West flocked to join Monmouth. The newly formed army failed to take Bridport and marched north through Axminster to Taunton. Here Monmouth was given a rapturous reception. Girls from a school in the town presented him
with colours for his regiments, and amid public applause he was proclaimed King.

Still recruits came in by hundreds. Arming and drilling went on all day. Meantime the news of the insurrection had spread fast and wide. On the evening on which the Duke landed, Gregory Alford, Mayor of Lyme, a zealous Tory, and a bitter persecutor of Nonconformists, sent off his servants to give the alarm to the gentry of Somersetshire and Dorsetshire, and himself took horse for the West. Late at night he stopped at Honiton, and thence despatched a few hurried lines to London with the ill tidings.(367) He then pushed on to Exeter, where he found Christopher Monk, Duke of Albemarle. This nobleman, the son and heir of George Monk, the restorer of the Stuarts, was Lord Lieutenant of Devonshire, and was then holding a muster of militia. Four thousand men of the trainbands were actually assembled under his command. He seems to have thought that, with this force, he should be able at once to crush the rebellion. He therefore marched towards Lyme.

Lonnie's comments: A Rebecca Lever was the wife of Jonathan Ash, the testator and may have remarried a Dutell. I cannot rule out the posibility that Rebecca Dutell could also be the daughter of Jonathan & Rebecca, but I suspect this is Rebecca Lever, remarried. Anne Lever, "widow"??; I've never found any marriage data on her.
