I know a bit about this family. The James you refer to moved to Boston. I believe his daughter, Elizabth, married John Franklin, oldest brother of Benjamin Franklin.

I am a descendant of John & Ruth's son, John Gooch. This John married a Lydiay Preble and had the first of four generations of Benjamin Gooch.
