Have you been to the Mongomery Co. historian's at Fonda yet? They have both Dr Gunsaules' papers and a genealogy devoted primarily to Canadian descendents of Manuel. Dr. Gunsaules is said to have answered a particular question of importance to him and donated his research. You might also look for his article in JAMA.
