I think the reason you are still searching for your Janet's marriage is simply that in Scotland "Jessie" is a petname for Janet.
I know VERY confusing!!!!
Therefore either the earlier Janet died and another born later was known as Jessie or you have Janet later christened as Jessie.
Also if you are looking for Scottish parentage remember that the normal naming custom was
1st son named after paternal grandfather
2nd son named after maternal grandfather
3rd son named after the father
1st daughter named after maternal grandmother
2nd daughter named after paternal grandmother
3rd daughter named after the mother
It's important you have all the children born to the couple first which should allow to make an educated guess as to the parents/relationship of the other couples.
