Steve,
I believe we may have corresponded in the past, am I correct? I did want to comment on the "4 Golightly brothers who came over on the ship "Greyhound" landing in Virginia about 1688."
I, too, am suspect to this. In my research I have found only 1 Golightly who was proven to have been in Charles City County, Virginia in 1688. His name was John Golightly. It is at least 16 years later that another Golightly appears in the records. His name was Hugh Golightly who appeared on the 1704 quit rent rolls of Prince George Co., Virginia along with a John Golightly who held land in the same vicinity as Hugh Golightly. It is not known if this John Golightly (1704) is the same John Golightly (1688) or not. I believe that Hugh Golightly was a son of the John Golightly (1688) and the other John Golightly (1704) was also a son. However, I only have one son listed for John Golightly (1688), Hugh Golightly (1704).
Do you have the names of these "4 brothers"? I would like to compare notes about this theory with you. I saw something similar about this at the 2000 Golightly reunion in Spartanburg, SC and I certainly spoke up about it since the names and dates are all over the place and just don't match any of my research.
