Betty I was interested to see that your family originated from Southwold, Suffolk beause so do mine, well to be precise we've traced them back to a marriage of a John Goldsmith and Elizabeth Leem in November 1688 at Dennington, Suffolk. They didn't arrive in Southwold until the eighteen hundreds. The Goldsmith's were vast families, as they were all very prolific when it came to child bearing. My own Gt Grandparent Thomas Larter and Matilda Goldsmith nee Powell had 21 children, of course they didn't all survive, but most did. Then Gt Grandad's Uncle and Aunt George and Elizabeth Goldsmith nee Hurr had 22 and the last one died so they had another for good measure. I would love to hear from you as I have quite a comprehensive family tree and it would be lovely to compare notes. By a coincidence I am going this weekend for a holiday to Southwold, we still have relatives living there. Mary Wooldridge Notify Administrator about this message?
