William Kerr and Martha? Goldsberry? of Ross/Fayette Co., OH?

Have any of the Goldsberry researchers run across the name of William Kerr, who lived in Ross and Fayette counties, Ohio?

A number of years ago I found an old (1940s) "bare bones" family sheet at the Tippecanoe Co., Indiana's Alice McCullough Historical and Genealogical Library that outlined the William Kerr family. This family sheet gave no name for William Kerr's wife, and said that William's son James Kerr was married to "Martha Goldsberry."

I know this is an error, as James Kerr married Martha Kirkpatrick on 24 Oct 1809 in Ross Co., Ohio. Martha Kirkpatrick, b. in 1793 in (Bourbon Co?) KY, was a blushing bride of 16 when she married James Kerr--and it is highly unlikely that she had been previously married to a man named Kirkpatrick and widowed. And a Benjamin Kirkpatrick, allegedly Martha's brother, is living with the James Kerr family in 1850.

However...could this long-ago researcher have made an error, and confused the generations? Did this older researcher mean that William Kerr, James' father, was married to a Martha Goldsberry? Could a Martha Goldsberry have been James' mother?

Or is "Martha" even correct? Perhaps William's wife (and James' mother) had the maiden surname of Goldsberry but had another given name? (After all, this older researcher did get "Martha" married to James--even if she got the surname wrong.)

William Kerr, "late of Indiana" died around Feb 1835 and his estate in Fayette Co., OH was administered by his son-in-law, Adam Turner, the husband of William's daughter Silence Kerr Turner. The estate mentions sons James Kerr and William Kerr Jr. and daughters Rachel Kerr Cochran, Silence Kerr Turner, Margaret Kerr McCoy and Jane Kerr Dyer. No widow is mentioned.

James and Martha Kirkpatrick Kerr, James' brother William Kerr Jr. and his family, and other Kerr relatives (surnames included Cochran, Holladay and Kilgore) removed from Ross Co., OH to Sheffield Twp., Tippecanoe Co., IN around 1823-4. The Kerrs owned the first mill in Tippecanoe Co.

I know there were a slew of Goldsberrys in Ross Co., OH who later joined the Kerrs, Cochrans and related families in Sheffield Twp., Tippecanoe Co., IN and adjacent Clinton Co.

According to most of his living children's census records in 1880, James Kerr was born in Pennsylvania, but one of his children says James was born in Virginia.
