I live in Carroll, but raised in Tippecanoe...
I've been to Frankfort and our Goldsberry's may be related in some way, but I cannot get a family established that puts me anywhere.
Sadly, my gr gr grandmother (Sarah Alice Goldsberry-born Nov. 20, 1855) was not remembered or recorded, except in a few lines I found in my grandmother's Bible and word of mouth mentioning her by her daughter, my grgrandmother Minnie. Apparently Grandma Minnie's childhood was very sad and she would never talk much about her birth mother.
Grandma Sarah Alice, apparently, married several times. Her first marriage was to John Wm McLaughlin, Greene Co, IN. He is the father of two children with her, Minnie Edna and William Clark.
I knew that Grandma had a half brother named George W. Server, but his father was never recorded, that I can find. (Uncle George and Uncle Clark moved, lived and died in Oregon in the 1970's.)
I found her listed in Greene Co, IN, under the name of Alice Edwards, as a widow, birthing 4 children, but only 3 living (which confirms the child Martha who was recorded in my grandmother's Bible), she records her father as born in France, her mother born in Indiana, with her two boys in the 1900 Census. She disappeared after that. The boys moved to Oregon prior to 1920, as I found them in the 1920 Oregon Census.
There was a 1880 picture found of my grgrgrandparents, in a family group, in Uncle Clark's belongings, when he passed away. My grgrandmother, her brother, and a set of grandparents (I believe to be the McLaughlin's) are in this photo, also.
Her parents have always been recorded as Joseph Goldsberry and Elizabeth Sheets, per Grandmother Minnie's information. She was suppose to have been born in Middlesbury, IN...I can't find anything on her.
Frustrating.
