Colleen, I have the record of 1881census from my friend in Edinburgh for the Gold family at Quarryhowe Overtown, Census place Cambusnethan, Lanark Enum Dist 7 page 18. Janet Gold W 41 born Hamilton Head (laundress) William Gold U 19 born Glasgow, Lanark (fireman) son Georgina Gold 12 born Newmains (Cambusnethan) Lanark dau Marion Gold 10 born " " " dau Hugh Gold 6 born " " " son This would tie in with the facts as we know them except it looks as though their daughter Janet who would have been 9 has either died or is away from the house. I did not have a record of a daughter Georgina's birth before although I have had this census record for some time and had not picked it up. Note William is a fireman on this census. The father James must have died quite young leaving Janet (nee Frame) with 4 or possibly 5 children. They had lost 3 children (Hugh born 1863, Janet Jardine born 1866, Janet Jardine born 1866 and now the third Janet is missing from this census). Did you have a record of Janet (Frame) Gold's death?
