I research GOINGS surname that can be found in Pike, Green, Macoupin Co. Illinois in the mid 1800s. JONAS GOINGS married TEMPERANCE SCOTT HOWEY in about 1817 - they resided in Hardy Co W.Va. until about 1840. They, then, migrated to Ross Co. Ohio for a short period of time, then on to the Pike Co. area of Illinois. Interestingly, they divorced in 1849. They left a big family of children in that area of whom I possess lots of personal info that was given to me by my grandmother and gr-grandmother.
After the divorce, Jonas married a Mary Murry (1851) and they had a family. This entire second family seemed to disappear about mid 1850s.
Jonas is the son of a HENRY GOINGS who can be found in Hardy Co. W. VA in early 1800s through 1850+ when he passed. Henry was very probably the son of a MICHAEL GOINGS (GOAN) found in Shenandoah Va. in late 1700s.
I also research surname HOWEY and have lots of info on them also.
Would like to share.
Annette
