William Going of North Carolina

Searching for information on William "Billy" Going or other spellings that appeared on the 1790 Moore County, North Carolina census. I recently recieved a "rejected" Cherokee application dated 1896 that documentnts a family back to William "Billy" Going.

The application was for James Mayhew, and his nephews Uriah and Hezekiah Mayhew. James was born November 27, 1833 to Daniel and Elizabeth (Curtis) Mayhew in Clinton County, Illinois.

According to the application, William "Billy" Going was married to a woman named Betsey. They had a daughter named Mary Going. Mary Going was born circa 1780 in North Carolina. Mary married Henry Curtis of Person County, North Carolina and they had several children, that included Joel, John, and Elizabeth--the mother of James Mayhew.

Descendants of the Going family migrated to Clinton County, Illinois, as they appear on the 1820 Bond County, Illinois census in the household of Henry Curtis.

Any information on William Going born circa 1750 is greatly appreciated.
