Perhaps I am wrong about James & Mary Johnson Goggins. Perhaps I should start with Thomas Goggins who married Rebecca Teague. Are you familiar with this couple? Two of their sons married Jowell sisters.
This Thomas Goggins is said to have died about 1820. HIs widow Rebecca is on the 1830 Laurens Co census:
1830 Laurens SC
p.239Rebecca Goggins: 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-20, 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 20-30, 1 female 40-50.
son John:
1830 Laurens Co SC
p.239John Goggins:
1 male under 5[Daniel?], 1 male 5-10 [bro Joshua T?], 1 male 20-30 [John], 2 females under 5 [Nancy & Rebecca], 1 female 5-10 [Louisa], 1 female 20-30 [wife Mary Jowell] Census indicates two unknown males -- sons or nephews?
In 1830 son Elihu may have been in Cherokee Terr GA along with his father in law Gabriel Jowell.
Some time after Apr 1836, Rebecca married Jehu Pitts, widower of her sister Mary Teague. Jehu & Rebecca received letters of dismission from Popular Springs Baptist Church in SC and moved to the Cherry Creek Community of Pontotoc MS. In 1843 they became charter members of the Cherry Creek Baptish Church.
Do you know if this Goggins family connects to the list of brothers you posted?
