I have some information about the St. Louis Goeke family.
My Great Uncle, James Patrick "Jim" Sheehy III (b. March 19, 1883 d. Feb. 09, 1954) from Humphreys Co.,McEwen, Tn married Emily Goeke from St. Louis on Sept. 23, 1924 at St. Patrick's Church in McEwen, Tn.Jim's first wife, Bridget Stella Dolan (1891- 1911) died after only 2 years of marriage leaving a 6 mo. old girl.Their little girl died 2 years later.Jim moved to St. Louis sometime after that.
Emily Goeke was born July 04, 1885 and died August, 1968 in St. Louis, Mo. Both Emily and Jim are buried in St. Louis Mo., although Jim died in McEwen, Tn. at his sister's home. They had no children, but I know they had very close contact with their neices and nephews, who stayed with them often.
They lived in St. Louis in a house on Ray Avenue. My family, the Watsons (8 children), visited Emilya few times in the 1950s and 1960s after Uncle Jim's death and stayed at Emily's house. She had a very tidy red brick home, and a small neat yard.Their turtle lived in the basement for years. They lived just around the cornor from the Roman Catholic church that they attended. We went to Mass there when we visited.I don't know if Emily converted to Catholicism after she married or was one before she met Uncle Jim, but she was very devout.
Emily Goeke's brother, Charles "Chas" Goeke had a daughter, Margaret, who was married to Mike Dresner, a policeman. They had two children that I know about, Margie and a son.Emily's sister was Mae Goeke Conley, married to ? Conley. They had a child named Mickey Conley.I think Emily died in a nursing home in St. Louis.
Hope this helps.Happy hunting!
