Connie, I have recently learned that there were 2 GEORGE GOEBELs living in Albany in the 1800's and I researched both of them. I call them "the older George" (b. 1832) and "the younger George" (b.1847). I *think* we are connected to the older George. You seem to be connected to the younger George... But here is what I learned about your George; maybe at least a little of it will be helpful to you: 1900 Census - Albany NY Ward 17 George Goebel b. 1847 53 yrs. old married 25 yrs. born in Germany yr of immigr: 1872 (1880 Census says from Bayern) - Occ: Baker Dora Goebel b. 1848 52 yrs. old 8 children born; 5 survive Cathrine b. 1876 24 yrs. old Edward b. 1877 23 yrs. old - 1920 Cen: has daugt Gertrude b. abt 1916, a wife, Gertrude Ragotzkie b. abt. 1873 - He is a baker, lives at 43 Quail St.,Albany Wife's sister's name is Augusta Ragotzkie. age 44, nurse in hospital BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT....There are several first names in your Goebel clan that correspond with several first names in our Goebel clan! So there may yet be a connection!! Do you know anything about the parents of your George Goebel (b.1847) ?? Notify Administrator about this message?
