Hello,
I am trying to find the name of the wife of Jacob Goebel. He and she were born in Germany. They married there about 1875. They are listed in the 1900 Racine Census with having been married for 25 years. They had 10 Children; only 6 were living at that Census.
Evidently they came to the USA in 1883-4 according to Census info and the fact that a daughter, Barbara had been born in Germany and the subsequent child Lizzie was born in Wisconsin!
They had a daughter marry in 1900, Anna who married Peter Pfeilstifter/Pfeilstifte. Then whoever was transcribing the Census misnamed the subsequent children with the Son-in-law's surname, instead of going back to the Goebel name!!!
Anyway, at the end of the list of Goebel family members residint in the home at 1402 Grand in Racine is a mother-in-law..Catherine Wasch age 79.
I tried to get a Mary Wasch in files but couldn't find one, and then I came across a Mary Nasbach, but could make no sense of that either! I did find a Noersbach, but that family was from the 1700's! Too many generations to work out.
So, if anyone in Racine knows the maiden name of Mary Goebel who was born in Dec. 1852 somewhere in Germany..I would be most grateful!
